That you for sharing this. I find it appalling that minimum wage is not enough to live on, and yet people blame people on food stamps as if it's their fault they are poor. They somehow must not be working hard enough, but of course minimum wage jobs often require the hardest work.
I'm going to check out hunger action week now.

Yes, agar-agar was my first guess, because it's pretty simple and cheap to do, but I think I was wrong. I only saw it done once, but I remember that the agar-agar droplets need to drop to the bottom of a tall cylinder so that they have time to cool. Also, I think you have to drip them into oil. Probably best to ignore me anyway when it comes to chemistry.

I would definitely try one of these! I drank enough soda to become pretty tolerant of overly sweet foods.

I'd guess agar-agar; it set up fast, and both the gummy base and solution were mixed with water first. The nori behaved like taffy or modeling chocolate, and I admit I was afraid to eat it after my first nibble on the pure saccharine overkill that was the tuna.

At this rate these kits will be the first giveaway item.

Nice! Wow, the roe are actually quite convincing. Does this kit use agar-agar for spherification or that fancy sodium alginate stuff? Also, do you know what the nori is made out of?

No really, your "list" resonated with me because it's very close to lunch time, and the "list" is basically our lunch ritual. Sadly the list has to stay small because of some dietary restrictions within our lunch group. Kind of hard to find a good low-carb pizza place.
